This time the tournament is being played in Austria and Switzerland, neither of which countries have ever featured in a previous final and seem better qualified to host a bobsleigh tourney.
But all is not lost for "mien hosten". The previous twelve competitions, dating back to 1960, have produced a total of no less than nine different winners. Three times the host nation has come out on top, and who can forget the passion of the Greek underdogs who overcame the much-fancied Portuguese home team favourites in 2004?
A total of 31 matches will be played out over 22 days commencing Saturday 7th June 2008 and culminating in the final on Sunday 29th June 2008 at the Ernst Happel stadium in Vienna. So a maximum of 155 points are available under the Score Five system.

All predictions must be entered and saved by players before 12 Noon GMT on the first day each round begins.
Look out for the little thoughts of Chairman Damon in his "Five Spices" column. Learn the hard-hitting truth from the stats you never knew about courtesy of Professor Statto in "A Bunch of Fives". Do your best to beat Magic Mike's "High Fives" predictions. But above all, have fun with your mates and community league chums. We'll announce our country and global leaders and the eventual champions at the end of each round. So watch our honours board as the competition progresses.
Be skilful, and if not so, be lucky!!
